NANO - Peoples car

2008 is the year of the Indians.
Ratan Tata has finally unveiled the worlds cheapest car at the auto expo 2008, the pride of India and his dream has finally come true in seeing that every two-wheeler affordable indian will be able to get a all weather proof vehicle to carry his/her family.
Never have I felt so excited all my life to see a product launch, I know the excitement of a product launch since I come from a product company, to see the pride in the people who worked on the product and being congratulated and showered all the appraisal in front of the whole world.. hmm... thats a different feeling, one has to experience that to understand how it feels.

The four-door which can seat four-five people car, due to hit the market later this year at just 100,000 rupees ($A2,835), has a small 33bhp 624cc engine at the rear and is targeted at Indians hoping to trade up to four wheels from a motorcycle.

The Tata Nano - which looks almost exactly like a Smart - has no air conditioning, no electric windows and no power steering for the basic model, although two deluxe models will be on offer.

Ratan Tata has proven again that he is not just a dreamer but a doer and shown the whole world that Indians are the best when it comes to commitment and inspite of the prices going high on all accounts of the materials being used in making the car, he has kept his promise to deliver the car as 1 lakh car, and thus making it the worlds cheapest car.

Talking to the huge audience present on the occasion said he said he wanted to make "a safe, affordable and all weather transport -- a people's car, designed to meet all safety standards and emissions laws and accessible to all" and "a car that most people said could not be manufactured at that price."
He also dismissed fears the cheap car would herald more congestion and pollution, arguing the car would be better and far safer than most motorcycles on India's roads.

Hats off to each and every one who worked on this project and made this dream come true, its an ecstatic feeling which will last long enough :).
